Barred For Shoplifting

Postby Caster » Tue Jun 17, 2014 11:19 am

Hello and thanks in advance!  I was convicted of misdemeanor shoplifting, less than $200 from Wal-Mart in 2005.  I plead guilty and complied with court orders, fines, etc.  When I was caught the day of the offense, I signed a document stating I had a lifetime ban from all Wal-Mart stores, forever.  After researching online I find that most people were given only a 6 month or year bar.  I've recently tried contacting Wal-Mart's corporate office and my local store with no avail, although I knew they probably weren't going to give me any useful information.  I was wondering if there is anything at all I can do to try to overturn this.  I even know one woman who was barred from the same exact store and then given a job at the location.  I know that the bar is rightful, but a lifetime seems a little much.  I don't want to not be able to shop there when I'm 50 years old for something I did when I was 21.

ANSWER: Did this happen in Mexico?

No, sorry I am on vacation if you're looking at my IP.  It happened in Virginia.  I still live in the vicinity of the store that it happened in.

You(or someone) noted "Mexico" as the location.  I had always assumed that the person asking the question typed that but maybe not.

I only can think of two things.  If you try to fight your way through Walmart's bureaucracy by yourself you will go mad.  What about writing a registered letter to the manager of the store that is nearest you.  At least you can prove that he received it and he would then forward it up the chain of command to someone who should answer the letter.

If that doesn't work you may consider getting an attorney.  But is it worth paying thousands of dollars just for the privilege of shopping at Walmart?  Believe it or not I have never been inside a Walmart store in my life and I don't think that I am missing anything.
