Being a police officer with brothers records?

Postby curran » Tue Jul 31, 2012 11:45 pm

okay so i've decide to become a police officer, idk i just like helping out and stuff. the only thing is my brother has a really bad record and so does my family, im talking like mafia bad, and me i only have a few traffic tickets. could i get into the force? would this effect my chances? I've never been related to any of the family crimes. But i have been a POI in some and I have been interrogated on part of my family.

Not especially but I would hate to be your background investigator trying to get some some simple questions about you, not them answered.

It depends. Getting police officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. Any red flags can hurt your chances of getting hired. Some police departments do more in-depth background investigations than others, and some departments care more about a candidate's family and other associates and their activities than others. Departments will be much more concerned with your background and activities. Best of luck!
