My boyfriend was on facebook a while ago and started getting nasty messages from a fake profile. When we come to report the profile it had been removed.
Shortly after he decided to create a profile to try and catch out the person he thought may be the culprit.
Using my phone he sent two messages from the account the the " accused " shall we say asking them if he thought they would not get caught out. He was not threatning in any anyway.
Soon after this person replyd saying that they had contacted the police and they were looking into the ip address and also the messages this person received was classed as slander.
I'm not really bothered about the hole situations I'm just wondering if this person has really gone to the trouble of contacting the police and if the police would go this far and not tell them to just block the profile or if they have figured out people are on to them and are trying to throw us of.
Only because I remember along time ago on facebook I received threatning messages I contacted the police and they asked me if I believed the threats were true and to block this person. They were going to send somebody out but I later decided it was to much hassle.
So are they bluffing... Or can the police really trace an ip from an ibox message and mobile
