Can an unpaid debt stop you from graduating military bootcamp?

my husband is away at boot camp and I got a call from some place that wouldn't give there name. The man said he was from a law firm and they were going after my husband for an unpaid debt..He said if it wasn't paid by tuesday he was going to file it with the court..and he said if he files the papers it will stop his military process....Im also in the middle of filing bankruptcy! Can that happen can it really stop him from graduating ?

he was so rude and when asked what branch and where my husband was stationed I told him Im not giving out that info! I ended up hanging up because he would just not listen to me....He called back and left a messege on my answering maching saying how he dislikes irresponsible people and that no matter if he hears from us hes filing the papers...he then proceded to scream GET IT TOGETHER before hanging up

bottom line yes he can be kicked out for fraudulent enlistment if he did not report the past due debt. especially if he was in arrears.

he can aslo be kicked out if your impending bankruptcy was not mentioned either.

if his rating requires a Clearance he's hosed.

Yes it can prevent him from graduating. If he graduates it can get him discharged. Will it? More information is needed. The US military isn't like the foreign legion. You can't escape your obligations by signing up. They do not like to get involved with civilian courts. They would prefer to just kick you out.

No, this wouldn't stop him, because whoever called you was neither a professional debt collector nor did he work for any law firm or legal office. I would call him back, tell him that if he refuses to identify himself, you will call the cops for extortion and harassment. Then follow through.

Well...he has an unpaid debt that he didn't disclose to the military when he joined...usually that bars him from joining...

So he's in debt and you're filing for bankruptcy....
