Can I deposit my 5/3 overdraft settlement check at my new bank?

I was part of the class action lawsuit/ settlement and recently got a check in the mail. It states "for deposit only" which is odd because 1) How many people kept their accounts after being ripped off and 2) How can they tell me I can only deposit something if I'm using another bank, and 3) if I can't use it at my new bank, why did they waste my time by sending me a check? I will NEVER use 5/3 again, so I won't be opening an account to deposit their measly check...
