I received a CHECK today of $15 from SETTLEMENT ADMINISTRATOR under the SPINELLI v CAPITAL ONE BANK?

I was just wondering if this is a valid check or just a scam? I have opted in before (as I remember) on the class action settlement against capital one. Before I deposit the check into my account I was just making sure that this is not a form of tactic to steal my bank details. Thanks for your advice!

Yes, I looked up the case, it has been settled, it had to do with enrollment in Payment Protection Plan. Just search Spenelli vs Capital One Bank and it will give you the details.

I can't think of any way that anyone would get details of your banking from you cashing a check. Even with the return of the check (which most banks don't bother doing any more) there is no information available other than your name, which they have already.
