Can I do peoples nails for money with no license?

Postby burdett » Wed Jul 04, 2012 11:48 am

I love doing gel nails and would like to start making money by doing other peoples nails (like customers not family).. I am thinking about opening a little spot in my house kind of like a salon. Are there any laws against me doing this even though I am not a certified esthetician? I would appreciate any advice Thanks!

It is against the law to sell services without a license, both for Sales Tax and for Cosmetology. Laws very by state in how much you need to acquire that license.

There are laws against that but you can do free lance work.. like going to peoples homes and stuff, as for the salon it seems like a long shot with out a license but you should try to get one it is definitely worth it.

It's against the law. They would throw you in jail, as it's considered a hazard to public health as you've had no formal training in sterility procedures, cleanliness and proper hygiene.
For nails you need a manicurist license. Estheticians do facials. The one who does everything, hair, skin, nails, is a cosmetologist. To get any of these licenses you have to go to beauty college.
