Can I Get Reimbursed from my Apartment Complex for Personal Injury?

Postby eilis » Tue Jun 19, 2012 10:42 pm

I went to the mail room today and when I was leaving my lanyard almost got caught in the door because it flew back to close so quickly. When I attempted to put my hand up to stop the door I must've reacted too slowly because not only did the door hit my body, my foot went completely under the door. I could not get my foot out from under the door (had on flip flops) because it was wedged & finally I freed myself. My big toe nail has been completely pulled off & my toe is now huge, nailess & I have to see a doctor. I did leave a voicemail on the complex's machine to tell them I would be in to speak to them about the incident because they need to fix that door. I took pictures of my injury as well as a video of how quickly the door flys back to shut. Is the apartment responsible to reimburse me for my injury since I did nothing that should of made this happen other than their faulty door? It's going to take a few weeks of healing this and months for my big toe nail to grow back if @ all (the nail literally pulled from the base & all), I cannot bowl in my league @ the moment & have to wear sandals.
