Sue her? For exaggerating? Hmm ... not in America. Throwing eggs at an apartment building is vandalism. Did the egg yolks magically disappear? Did the kids wash off the eggs within minutes of throwing them? Do you know how hard it is to clean dried egg yolk off the side of buildings?

With your next potential landlord, be completely honest and upfront about what happened at your apartment, such that when they speak to your soon to be old landlord it will sound like an exaggerated rant (thus not credible). Being upfront about everything good and bad shows integrity, but when a potential landlord fills in the blanks about the stuff you omitted, you look suspicious and untrustworthy

One police call and one act of vandalism is more than enough reason to nix a potential tenant, and you acknowledge you let both happen. Yes, egging a building is vandalism, and a tenant is responsible for what their guests do. You have nothing to sue for- the agent/owner of a property decides who and by what criteria lives on their property.

Can my landlord lie? To my new landlord?

Doesn't seem like she lied to me: as a landlord, one time / multiple times does it make a difference. If I said "the police were called" - it can be interrupted either way
And your sister's children did vandalize the neighbors place (did you not clean it up and repair it?)

Your landlord can lie. To anyone she wants to.
