Car accident troubles please help?

Postby jabin20 » Sat Oct 29, 2011 8:18 am

I was a passenger in a no fault rear end accident. My attorney said that he was able to get me some money early which sounded great at the time. He was doing the medical portion of my case, in Minnesota by the way, which on my drivers auto insurance will cover up to 20,000 dollars for injuries. My medical bills exceeded the 20,000 dollars to right around 33,000 total. He paid roughly about 10,000 dollars to my medical bills and the other 10,000 he split up between him and I. He made me sign something giving him the okay for this and that the rest of my bills my personal medical insurance can pay the rest and we pay my insurance company after we settle. My insurance is refusing to pay due to the fact that they want proof that my coverage has been exhausted, basically where the 20,000 was distributed. The thing is my attorney only paid half that. Now my attorney wants me to sign the settlement for 50,000. Am I going to be stuck paying the full amount left over for medical bills? Or do I wait to sign the settlement until my insurance okays to covering my medical expenses and I just pay my insurance back? Please Help! I beg of you!

yup, because you signed something without consulting your lawyer first!
