What happens after a car accident?

My boyfriend and I were involved in a car accident over a month ago. The other guy was at fault and fortunately both drivers had insurance. My b/f decided to go through the other guys insurance. So far, we have been to the chiropractor (we went a few weeks but stopped going due to lack of transportation), and he has gotten the settlement for his car (it was totaled out). Also I got letters from b/f insurance stating that the chiropractor and hospital has been paid recently. My mom and his family is telling us that we receive a personal injury settlement. But how do we go about this? We didn't and aren't going to hire a lawyer since it's wasn't that major of a car accident.

You'll have to contact the at fault insurance company. It's not a guarantee that you'll get a settlement though.

I think you have to hire a car accident lawyer he will give best advice for whole case.
