Christians can you do me a favor?

Postby colten » Sun Jul 29, 2012 10:40 am

As much as you talk about the goodness of God, can you ask God to show me the God in you?

I am a firm believe that action speaks louder then words. One of the reason that I stopped going to church, because I got tired of hearing the same talk every freaking week, and not once seeing anything coming from the talk.

To me, church is like a swimming class. You go there to learn something week after week without getting in the water. So the way I see it, if you are going to talk so highly of the swimming instructor, why can't your swimming instructor have you show us what you learn through some kind of action instead of just words?

You want an example? Be the example.

Sounds like you haven't found the right church yet. Keep looking because it's out there :)

If you are looking to see the God in people you should go to the kingdom hall of Jehovah`s Witnesses and please stay out of the churches of Christendom.

Preachers are like swimming instructors, in fact - some teach people to live, and some don't teach much of anything useful and then leave their students to drown. Of course, it also comes down to the decision of the student to put their knowledge into action. If you noticed this problem with your church, perhaps you should have tried some other churches. There are definitely some fishy preachers and congregations out there, but there are genuinely loving and earnest churches out there as well. It just might take a bit of effort on your part to find the right one.

Not arguing you are right or wrong, just want some perspective. How many churches have you attended? Is your analysis based on a random sampling of say 100 churches across a broad spectrum of religions?

So you have reached a similar conclusion to mine. The Churches have lost their way, instead of being a force for good in the world by ministering to both the physical and spiritual needs of the poor and downtrodden the church has become a lodge or social club that talks a lot but really does not do much in line with the example Christ has given..The tithe instead of being a seed for ministering to people has become a salary for the pastor and funding to expand the monument to the pastors ego -(bigger and better church building).

I say, what Christ said - Come out her my people and never go back again..

It is a superb analogue.
The christian church works upon all front. Some tend to preach and also give some good examples. Others go doing mission works outside their church, some of them are good others fail badly.
Their are those who work behind the curtains and strive to help those in need, some of them would also take advantage of their coffers.
Yes action do speak louder than words, but Christianity has only 'one' thing to give to the world, which is 'a word of joy'.
Once you understand that Jesus Christ has risen and is giving you the opportunity to live eternally, then all the 'instructors' would be seen as challenges for you to gain this wonderful 'gift'.
