A local retail store sold me an extended warranty guarantee on a product. The company that services the claims went out of business. The retail store will not refund any money, nor service any claim, since they say it was a third party company that the warranty was through. Are there any legal repercussions to this? The warranty was sold by the retail store, and the payment for the warranty was made to the retail store.

Go to the court house get a small claims form fill it out name the store that sold the warranty and the company name and address on the warranty and spend $100.00 and file a claim for the repair and the cost of the warranty time lost and file it, if no one shows up to court you win automatically and the company you paid the money to will have to pay. Be sure to include any loss this has cost you, you can file up to $5000.00 against them and the judge will determine how much you will receive for damages and loss's get the form and file it with the county clerks office they will give you a court date. Do this not only for yourself but for others that may have been taken by this scam the more people that report it the more severe they will punish them. hope this helps.
