A suggestion: Look in the yellow pages for attorneys and see if any say they do workers' comp. Call a few, set an appointment, go and tell them your story and get advice directly from someone who knows the field and can ask you questions if anything isn't clear.
Second suggestion: If you are in a union, or know someone who is find out who the union thinks is a good attorney.

Why don't you pose your question and some of us may have an answer for you. Most Workers' Compensation organizations have people you can ask questions of and you don't pay. Don't make the assumption that they want to be mean to you or won't share their information. They are in the business of helping people.
