Do I need a liscense to do a small raffle?

I'm doing Relay for Life tomorrow and I read online somewhere about something called a 50/50 raffle, only they advised we check our raffle laws or something like that. Oh a 50/50 raffle is charging $1 for a raffle ticket, then the winner gets 50% of the money and the rest goes to charity. So do I need a liscense for this, or is a raffle like this not even okay?
