Do I qualify for Expungement?

Postby tonibraxton » Thu May 24, 2012 4:48 pm

When I was 17 I forged some checks and I was given a years suspended sentence upon the completion of probation. I feel terrible about it and I regret it everyday. Now I am about to earn my associates degree and I want to apply to a university, but they want to know about my criminal history so I want an expungement. I want to know if I would qualify for one in South Carolina with a felony charge of forgery. It has been almost 5 years since it happened and I completed probation successfully. I even got off early. I haven't gotten any charges since and I do not break the law. Any info will help. Thank you!

You have paid all the fines, completed your consequences and nothing else is pending; if so, yes you should. Many states automatically expunge the record of a minor, some require you to apply. Do not leave it to chance.
