Do you know who I report this to?

Hi.. quick question.. I applied for a few personal loans over the internet last week. Well recently, companies have been blowing my phone up saying I'm approved for loans, educational loans and car loans. These are 800 numbers and are calling me 10-15 times a day. I tell them I am not interested.

Well today I get a very threatening message from some company, the guy has an indian accent. He states I'm going to be reported to Police for check fraud and blah blah. He gives me the name of the company but I never heard of the company or even applied to the company so I know it's a scam.

Tonight I get a call from a local car dealership saying they got an online message with my name, address and phone number and a fake email address (i guess it was one of those spam emails they make with peoples' real name). I told him I never filled out an online form.

So obviously, these guys got me info and are spamming everything and threatening me.
Is it even possible to report this to law enforcement? I know I don't call 911 over something like this, of course but who would I call and what should I do?

Only real answers only please. No snide or sarcastic remarks. thanks

Call the desk of the local police station, the non emergency line. It will be in the phone book. They can direct you.

What you should do is go down to the police station and tell them what is happening. They will help you file the appropriate report. You need to have this on record in case someone is stealing your identity. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to stop unwanted phone calls. If it really is 10-15 times a day, you will probably need to change your phone number.

Report it to your phone service provider for harassing phone calls.

They got your info because the personal loan companies you applied for a loan with, sold your information to people like that.
Like everyone else has said, if you talk to the police department, they will direct you with what you need to do to get these harassing calls stopped. You can also tell the harassers when they call to stop calling you. I think by law if you say that, they are required to stop. Not sure though.
