Do you know who I would report this to?

Hi.. quick question.. I applied for a few personal loans over the internet last week. Well recently, companies have been blowing my phone up saying I'm approved for loans, educational loans and car loans. These are 800 numbers and are calling me 10-15 times a day. I tell them I am not interested.

Well today I get a very threatening message from some company, the guy has an indian accent. He states I'm going to be reported to Police for check fraud and blah blah. He gives me the name of the company but I never heard of the company or even applied to the company so I know it's a scam.

Tonight I get a call from a local car dealership saying they got an online message with my name, address and phone number and a fake email address (i guess it was one of those spam emails they make with peoples' real name). I told him I never filled out an online form.

So obviously, these guys got me info and are spamming everything and threatening me.
Is it even possible to report this to law enforcement? I know I don't call 911 over something like this, of course but who would I call and what should I do?

Only real answers only please. No snide or sarcastic remarks. thanks

don't call 911, as that is for emergencies. call your local police department...you can google it.

911 won't do anything as this is not an emergency. This is not illegal - you did not read the fine print when you signed up for those internet loan sites. When you clicked Accept or Enter you expressively gave them permission to pass your information on to third party loan providers - read the T&Cs of the sites you signed up for and I guarantee there will be something there about sharing your information

The guy threatening you for check fraud is illegal but you would need his actual location and company name in order to file a police report through your local police non-emergency number. But if he is in India or even in another state the police can't do anything as they have no jurisdiction there
