i live in Oklahoma and have been arrested for possession of marijuana once several years ago. since then Ive noticed a lot of police officers seem to think they're actually making a positive difference in the world when they arrest someone for drugs. the other day the same cop that arrested me drove past me going the other way on the road and flipped around and pulled me over for an out tag light. first thing he says is are there any drugs in the car, and calls a k9 unit to assist, after 30 minutes of bullshit they let me go. i get the feeling they really don't care about how my life is going, and how all this effects me. they're suppose to protect and serve, not harass and arrest. don't get me wrong, i don't think drugs should be legalized(besides herb), but i really think they should make some big reforms to how law enforcement works. do they really think taking a little bit of weed off a kid and making him pay a huge fine and community service is really gonna change anything besides create revenue for the city and put nonviolent peoples life's in a rut? it seems to be like a holy crusade to a lot of cops and the law is their bible. i wish they would just look at why they're doing what they're doing and the effects on the people they're suppose to "protect". maybe if they stopped focusing on non violent crimes with no victims and spent more time looking for rapists and murders i might have some respect for what they do. what do you guys think?
