Emancipation, Please Answer?

Postby kendon19 » Wed Oct 26, 2011 12:40 pm

My girlfriend lives in an abusive family. Her dad is gone for months at a time trucking and her mom hits her, emotionally abuses her and just generally treats her badly. She was suicidal and in counceling before we started dating, and this previous summer she was almost taken away along with her 4 brothers by DHS, so her family pulled her away to california for a couple weeks and almost never came back. She lived with me after that for 4 or 5 months and then her mom made her come home. Now it is back to the same old stuff and we want to know how easy it would be and what we would have to do to get her emancipated or to have her allowed to live with me permanantly, my mother is fully willing and she actually wants this to happen. She is working very hard in school to get good grades and we dont know what else to do because her mom wont let her go.

Also there is alot of times where there is not enough food in the house, and her mom cant take her to school because of gas.
We live in Oregon if anyone knows what the laws are and what the process would be.
Thanks ahead of time to anyone who answers.

If I were you, I'd start searching the internet. Start with Oregon.gov and find the phone number of a health and family services social worker, they would have the best information for you. Good luck!
