The issue is whether or not you violated the law. Even if 90% of everyone in your community do the same thing, that does not give you license to break that law with impunity.
When a VERY inexperienced driver testifies and a police office with traffic enforcement duties testifies, it will be very hard for the judge not to give more weight to the officer's testimony. And, in general, the traffic with the green light is considered to be "oncoming traffic", thereby barring your right turn on red attempt.
Your chances in court are exactly what your attorney tells you they are. If it is not important, do not consult an attorney. Without an attorney's advice, I think your chances for acquittal are not good.
