Find a date for a patent number?

If something has a patent number, how to locate when it was made or manufactored?

You can look up the patent history at uspto.gov and find out who filed the patent. That doesn't necessarily tell who made the product though. Patents are often sold or licensed and products are often manufactured by others. And there is no connection to the date of mfg.
