First traffic ticket in California?

Postby beacher » Tue Jul 31, 2012 4:02 pm

I got my first traffic ticket in California the other day for doing a rolling stop at a stop sign. Since it's my first ticket, are there any laws in California that allow you to waive your first ticket? Either you don't have to pay the fine, or perhaps if you pay the fine then it will not show up on your driving record?

You will be required to pay the fine. Also, you will be assessed one point. You may attend traffic school (once every 18 months) to mask the point.

If you want to pay over time, you can ask the court for a periodic payment schedule. However, if you make payments, the court usually won't let you go to traffic school but it won't hurt to ask.
