Girls: embarrassed to wear flip flops ?

Ok....I know this sounds stupid....but bear with me....

I'm a teen guy who all his life has worn sneakers and socks....to the beach, 90 degree weather days, anything....showing my feet has been almost a fear for me, it's been that uncomfortable.

Throughout the years, my mom constantly tried to get me to wear sandals or flip flops, but I always threw the idea away and insulted flip flops. My dad didn't help either by calling them "gay".

Recently however, I've felt almost left out. I feel like it's unfair to feel this uncomfortable around my house to wear what I want....I'm pretty much afraid of them insulting or being wise with me....every time my socks are off, it's some huge deal to them and it's stupid....I can't wear adidas slides with socks workout getting commented on.

I recently bought a pair of flip flops and adidas sandals...both are the farthest from feminine, but I've yet to wear them because of my family....my feet are white....and I tan very well....

My question is....what do I do about this? It's so stupid....but I hate my patents comments.....it's some huge deal apparently to not wear socks 24/7/365...no exaggeration....

Today, I snuk out and wore them and they felt SO AMAZING and comfortable. I'm in love with these shoes, but I'm too embarrassed to wear them more...What do I do?

Just wear them! Maybe even get your friend to wear them too, and when your parents see how everyone and anyone wears flip flops, then alls good :)

Dude, just wear em out. Chances are, everyone is doing it too so no one is going to give you any ****.

I used to be embarrassed to wear sandals out too, but then I just started doing it because other people did it. Really, just keep the original swagger and no one is going to say anything.

Okay, here's what I say(: if you washh your feet really well, spray your favorite colonge...(make your feet smell and look good) then you'll be fine!!! Just talk to your family the night before. Trust me! You'll look great! Ohhh...and if you tan easily,sit out in the sun for at least a week:10 minnutes a day. And make shure you don't have a farmers tan(a line where your socks were!!!) Hope you have enough confindence now!

I think that it's totally wrong to be scared to wear flip flops! It's not a crime to have bare feet! I think you should just go out there and wear whatever shoes you want and wear 'em PROUD! YEAH FLIP FLOPS!

wear them! If youre really worried about your parents like making fun of you or commenting on you just ignore them! flip flops are so comfortable i wish i could wear them year round

Where flip flops! geez.. I guess if your that tan you could put some spray tan on your feet. They are just feet though! I go barefoot everywhere except outside, I always where shoes I can slip of (like flip flops) because I love going barefoot. I know a ton of guys that where sandals, and flip flops. Its not that big of a deal! Just ignore they're comments. Tell them EVERY normal person where's them! Which is true!!

just start wearing them around the house. like your parents will be a little obsessed with the situation but if you wear it like all the time they will get used to you wearing them and get over embarressing you. they will realize its not a big deal to be constently harrassing you about. and when you first start wearing them around the house and they make fun of you just take it like a pro dont get butt-hurt over it cause they will see that them making fun of you is getting them anywhere cause your not reacting to it.
