Have we got our priorities right?

It's the same the whole world over, isn't it a cryin shameeeeee it's the rich wot gets the pleasure and the poor what gets the blame.

I live in a village where the parish council are all Masons. They tread on peoples faces to get their own way in everything. They never report the minutes accurately they take the stuff out they don't want, even at one stage a poor man threatened to take them to court when they ganged up on him. One of the members is even a judge. And that's just in a tiny village, scale that up and you have the people who run the massive companies and governments.

Everything is about who has the power.

People who nick a candy bar or a loaf of bread can't usually afford to hire or pay off those who can set them free.
The poorer you are the longer time you will be sitting in jail even for the same offense as a wealthier person.
12 years back or so, my son was in a terrible marriage with a women he married in eastern Europe and brought to the US. She went bonkers as soon as she landed in the US, part of her plan was to use our son to get out of her country then cut him loose.
Long story but she got him arrested on trumped up charges, he never had any run in's with the law before and didn't know what to do or how to handle talking his way out of it.
If not for us bailing him out that day from jail after already being issued the orange jumpsuit and rubber slippers he would of lost his job for being held over for days, then without a job who knows what would of come next.
The stories he heard that day in jail were not unlike what happened to him, he was just lucky we were there and had some cash ready to get him out.
Once the coppers grab you then it all comes down to cash money, payouts good lawyers, without those you could find yourself behind bars for something very minor.
The jails are a business and they get funds for every inmate inside. You have to be worth more free then locked up.
His ex's lies cost him over $20,000 and years of having to explain himself at every job interview even though he paid extra to have his lawyer remove the charges that were dropped from his records.
He paid 2 times but still not sure if it is totally removed from public records, once they get you it's over.
Believe me, I have no record but if I ever see his ex again, I will be doing life.

They say justice is blind,as it judges not by the person but the offence. But as you point out the inequities of our judicial system,i have come to the conclusion the justice is not only blind,it is deceased, and none existing. You have shown light on what is obvious and and ludicrous as well.We all know the house is on fire, but who holds the water hose. What you want to know is were are the firemen to arrest this out of control social disgrace. So it is i hang my head knowing that this is just the way things are and we are quite unarmed to rectify these sad and discouraging facts of the world in which we live.May God help us from the scoundrels among us.Good luck to you.

Yup, the rich can ''buy'' their way out. If not, over here in the U.S.A. we have the white collar prison. You know the horrid conditions of tennis courts, air conditioning, visits for ahem spouses.... or the horrible house arrests where they still get to live in their multi-million dollar digs and with permission take their yacht out , but only on the weekend because they are being punished you know. Some 16 girl scarfs a cheap tube of lip gloss and goes to juvie for 6 months, 300 hours of community service has a record sadder that a country western tune and will never be hired by the white collar shysters because she is the worst of the worst. The link below is the jail cell of our infamous Al Capone in a New Jersey jail. Once he got to Alcatraz in San Francisco Bay there was no more goodies.Bring Back that damn island.
