Have you EVER heard of anything like this before?

Postby wethrby » Thu Feb 23, 2012 9:57 pm

i was called 2 months ago by an officer. I confirmed it was a real officer. He called my cell phone number, which could only have been provided by the complainant, because my mom pays my cell phone bill from another state and I don't have a land line so there's nothing really official linking me to the phone number... He said an acquaintance of mine filled out a complaint about me and asked if I knew the complainant. I said I hadn't SEEN him in a really long time and haven't spoken to him in a pretty long time...the officer wasn't happy with my vagueness, although I wasn't lying. He assured me he had proof and wanted me to comment further. I declined to comment without a lawyer. He seemed quite irritated and said "I could charge each event individually, but I mean... you're gonna be charged with something..and I want this to be easy...so let me know what you want to do." I replied, "you tell me..Im not sure how this works, do you want my lawyer to call you?" He seemed unsure himself of how this would work...he seemed a little confused or thrown off and he said, "yeah you can have your lawyer call me, or I'll see what I'm gonna do here..."

My lawyer called him and offered to surrender me to the station the following business day, which was Monday (yes the cop called on Sat. Oct. 29.) At first, the cop told my lawyer he's about to go on vacation and doesnt want to arrest me beforehand. When the cop returned from vacation, my lawyer called again at which point the cop said he needs to get the complainant's signature and IF it happens it'll be another two weeks at least, maybe longer.... That was 7 weeks ago and 9 weeks total since initial contact from the cop.

What does this sound like to you? So many questions. Why did he call me instead of visiting me in person? Why did he call me so far in advance of arrest? Why did he decline my lawyer's offer to surrender me? Why hasn't he been forthcoming in calling my lawyer back (every single contact was initiated by my lawyer to the cop and once the cop even tried to avoid talking to him bc he was busy, but my lawyer persisted by saying it wouldn't take long...), why would the cops pursue an investigation when the complainant isn't even sure he wants to press charges? Why weren't my computer or phone seized? The complaint was actually first filled out on Jan. 3, 2011 and I wasn't called for almost 11 months... the complainant followed up on it and urged action to be taken...

Allegations: Misdemeanor level "Aggravated Harassment"

Seems like the police officer isn't following due process. If they have a criminal charge, they have to make an arrest. An officer can't not arrest someone because they're going on vacation. A different officer would be assigned. It sounds like the officer is the one doing the harassing here... Maybe an inquiry about procedures needs made to the police department, possibly the Captain or Chief.

If it is anything like the police where I live they think they can do anything they want, and they do.I Just recently witnessed our sergeant in our fair town lie under oath just to stop a ticket from being dismissed. If a officer will lie for such a minor thing you must assume they lie about the big things.

Yes I have. I have heard of this from you, from KennedyC, ReportMeNow and some of your other accounts.

How many times are you going to ask this same stupid question?

Do you want to know what is likely to happen? You won't tell us what state you live in but most states consider stalking to be a felony, Aggravated Harassment can be considered stalking there for can be considered to be a felony. Here, you won't tell us so you can look it up yourself.

All I can say is if you have pending charges of aggravated harassment then it shows that you are a complete bltch.

Oh and the call on your cellphone, could be used to locate you. Better keep it turned off because they can pick up normal cell phone responses from the cell towers in your area and from there they can pinpoint your location within a few feet.

Think I am kidding you?
