Have you ever met a person who was their own dentist?

I met a man who claims that he does his own dental work, and wonder...is he pulling my leg? Is this common anywhere in other nations? If so, can a self-dentist sue for malpractice? Have I uncovered a new way to retire early?

I do my own cleanings. I've never had a cavity, so I guess that's generally enough to take care of my needs. I check my own teeth too, but occasionally still see my old dentist because no matter which way I turn my head, I just can't seem to see the lingual aspects of my maxillary premolars (or maybe I just need a third mirror in there somewhere!) My assistant takes my radiographs, but I interpret them. I can't sit in the chair and push the button at the same time, but maybe someday we'll get the machines with the remotes. :)

I won't lie, ever since I saw that movie, every so often I catch myself thinking "AM I a good enough dentist to extract my own 11?" I don't think I'll ever drink enough to find out.

Wow...Suing myself for malpractice on myself...If only I could pay off my loans that way. :) And maybe I would find out if I am able to place my own implants in the meantime....
