Horrible opening ceremony?

Postby reuben29 » Sun Jul 29, 2012 5:48 pm

Well, after much debate I decided to watch the opening ceremony.. Even though I fell asleep 15 minutes in I woke up to the howling noise of an old man that I think is the sole survivor of the Beatles singing "Hey Jude." I wish I could unsee what I saw.

From now on there needs to be an international law that says only super-power countries can host the Olympics.

Anybody catch my drift?

Since you fell asleep 15 minutes' into the ceremony, you are not in a position to make any valid judgement on a spectacular performance. Crawl back under your bridge, you troll.

This just looks like you're uneducated and ignorant dude. If you're not informed enough, England is a super-power. The "old man" is Sir Paul McCartney, a legend who's knighted by the Queen. There's also Ringo Starr who's still alive. If you really didn't know, I just feel bad for your generation. London created a theater like performance showing the evolution of the city's society. If thought of putting Mr. Bean as describing the guy playing the piano, then I would assume you're a kid. He's name Rowan Atkinson if you wanted to be informed. Try to appreciate another culture.

From your answer i guess your not british and your trying to start a debate. Well we may not be a super country in your eyes but in most others we are. We have a vast history and we have got stronger historical impact than countries like america (i am assuming your american)
Yes, the start was slow but you missed a lot if you fell asleep 15 minutes in. You missed some of the best parts and i dont think you get to judge
Danny boyle did a great job.
Paul Mcartney may not be your ideal but the beatles are a big part of music history and they are known all across the world. Hey jude is classic but that may not be your opinion
Mr Bean was good but if you had bothered to watch the rest you wouldnt judge.
So NO, i dont catch your drift, dont be mean if you didnt bother to watch it...

Dover! You poor Sole.
Yes! I do know, but then... I had an education.

The Olympic ceremony was a pure delight, a reflection on the British way of life and verifiable achievements; enacted with true meaning from the hearts of truly VOLUNTEERING Brits; how can any clot fall asleep and then have the gall to make a comment over something he/she knows very little about.
My advise ... go back to sleep and hope that Peter Pan keeps a wise eye on you in case you awaken and find that some dictator has enrolled you into an episode of nightmare you can never escape from.

Are you saying England a useless country? Bit offended there... Most of the people who watched the Opening Ceremony found it emotional and a very clever way to portray Britain's strengths to the world. It was nothing short of an extravaganza... And we're nothing short of a super-power country...

In my opinion the ceremony was OK but can be alot better.

Even before watching the ceremony, I already knew that London have to do alot more just to become in the same level as the Beijing Olympic's opening ceremony. But lets be honest Beijing spent more money than London.

You watched it for free, So stop complaining!

Perhaps the people who did not like it, did not understand what was happening. It covered a small era of our history. The biggest critics fall into two categories, (1) uneducated no hopers who have no history nor understand who these characters were (2) people who think the world revolves around Coronation Street. I pity your kids, they are destined for the unemployment queue, because you have no interest in anything. Then you pass it on.

You sir are wrong alot of time, effort, people and money went into the opening ceremony and it was a very spectacular performance which I really enjoyed. And to even suggest passing that law is ridiculous. And anyway i'm fairly sure the UK is a super power country
