House Rental Laws in the state of Texas?

Postby lorimar » Tue Apr 05, 2011 11:10 pm

I am trying to rent a house in Texas. I am looking to move in just me and my girlfriend soon to be fiance. I was told by three different real estate agencies that they only rent to families/married couples. Can this really be true? Isn't like saying I am not renting to you because your white? Stereotyping?

No offense, but comparing not renting to single persons versus not renting to minorities is an absolutely silly comparison. Minorities are a protected group under the law; single persons aren't.

For whatever reason, these real estate agencies prefer renting to single persons. They're allowed to.

I apreciate your answer and really you must not be that great of a lawyer because it is illegal. It is passing judgement/stereotyping like I said. You might want to do a little more research before you make yourself look even more foolish, especially if your going to announce that you are a lawyer
