How can an honest American lose his freedom for 5 years in the USA – the Mafia?

I never would have believed this was possible in a country that has stood for freedom in the world for over 200 years.
My father was a lawyer, Judge and assistant district attorney and a well-respected member of our local community. I was brought up respecting the rule of law in our country and that you always fight for justice. When the Mafia came into our life, he had nowhere to turn for help. This is wrong
In 1995 a local drug dealer was out with my ex- girlfriend and we had words. He stalked me for a few years and I filed detailed police reports, nothing happened. Over 10 years he moved up in the drug dealer world and works for the Mafia.
I was never informed in my life that the Mafia can control members of the State Police or for that matter any American they wish. This is wrong.
In about 2007 the Mafia researched every person I had ever come into contact with in my life and intimidated every one of them, and started to destroy my life and my family.
They bugged my house, car, office, my parent’s and my brother’s house, car, office, etc.
One day I go to my parents’ house and it was like the house was moved to North Korea, my parents were afraid to speak freely, even in the back yard. And they were forced to lie to me; this is real evil when criminals use your own family against you. My father was not allowed to leave the back yard with me and when we would go outside the guy next door went out to watch us.
They put surveillance on me when I traveled like you would see in a James Bond Movie.
I would have never believed this was possible in the United States. It has hard to explain what the loss of freedom is to someone who has not experienced it, you simply cannot comprehend it.
Today 5 years later I am intimidated every day. The FBI has been in the picture for a couple years to date. The agents are good people; they protect my life, but do nothing to restore my freedom.
The FBI will not even give me the name of the Mafia member who took my freedom.
With his name on a sign, I could change his lfe.
Imagine if you called the police about a burglar and they said, we will protect your life, but he will still mess with you and your family and break your stuff. Would you be happy?
I honestly feel betrayed by my government. I thought the purpose of govt. was to handle the big things in life, like war and well organized criminals.
How on earth does the average honest American protect himself from the Mafia? Who do you even call for help?
Our country has fought many wars for freedom, none for safety.
From what I see every day, the number of people with tears in their eyes, because they are forced to intimidate me against their will, a really huge number of Americans have lost their freedom. The US used to go to war over such things.
What does the country stand for if we are going to let criminals make slaves of innocent Americans?
I have been protesting for change for months in south Florida, and the news media is afraid to cover the story, so much for freedom of the press.
You would think our countries leaders would have a moral obligation to protect innocent American citizens from slavery to criminals in the year 2012. Congress needs to act.
I will be protesting until the day, my 80 year old mother can speak her mind without being told what to say by some Mafia criminal or the Mafia kills me.
If you think this can’t happen to your family, good luck.

So they bugged your home, your parent's and sibling's homes and your office....yet they haven't found out you've asked the FBI for intervention and protection. Kind of strange don't you think? And mostly because you're posting this on Yahoo Answers with no fear of retribution.

Don't get me wrong - I do the mafia can do many underhanded things, but I just don't believe that this has actually happened to you personally.
