My dad is up and off to work during the week by 6 am and on weekends he's usually up by 6 or 7 because our dogs will only wake him up to let them outside. My mom is currently unemployed and my sister and I are on summer break so her and my mom sleep until after noon every day. During our vacation, I used to sleep pretty late for a while (10 am-1 pm) after going to bed between 11 pm and 1 am. I'm 15 and even though I go to bed at 10 pm when I have school in the morning, I can't sleep until about 11-midnight year round. However, I always woke up feeling depressed over sleeping away a large chunk of the day, so i decided to start getting up early (5 am-8 am). I usually get up and go for a walk/run for about an hour, but then when I come back during the week I have a little too much alone time (I know, that sounds impossible!). About 5 or 6 hours of alone time, and it gets really lonely and boring. I just moved and honestly I have 2 friends, one who will sleeps until late afternoon (!!!) and one who has to watch her siblings while her parents are at work. So I dont have anyone to see in the morning :p My mom doesn't have a job to get up for but she will be looking for one in a few months after she has surgery and recovers. She says that she had insomnia, and I'm sure that's PART of the reason for her sleep schedule, but I think it would help if she actually went to bed instead of just staying up watching food network and law ghost shows in the living room until 5 am. Seriously! She doesn't even bother going to the bedroom to try to sleep! My dad wants me and my sister in bed by 11 or 12 but my mom just lets my sister, age 10, stay up watching tv with her. So they both get up about 11 am-2pm, but my mom also take a few naps during the day. Of the time that I'm awake, ~6am~midnight, she spends about 2/3 to 3/4 in bed. She's almost nocturnal! I don't expect my mom and sister to get up as early as I do, but I wish they would get up sometime in the MORNING. Can you give me some advice on how to persuade them to try a more reasonable sleep pattern?
