How do I become a police officer? (In Wisconsin)?

Postby cuartio52 » Thu Dec 01, 2011 3:53 am

I’m 18 and just graduated from school here in Wisconsin.

I know all about the Law, I've studied it in school; I know about weapons, dugs, cars, stuff like that. I even run track and keep in shape.

I've watch TV shows like Cops and Rookies, and pretty much know what it would take to become a cop.

I really want to help people and stop violence and drugs.

Do you know how to become a police officer and what it would take?

& also if you don’t can you tell me about any websites that would.

Thank You!!!

One of the best things that you can do is attend college, and earn a degree from an accredited school. Earn at least a four year degree. You will be glad that you did! Having a degree will not only help you become a police officer, but it will improve your chances of getting promoted after you become a police officer. The more education you have, the better! Choose a major that interests you and that would also be useful for police work. Criminal justice, accounting, psychology, a foreign language, and computer science are some examples. Learn as much as you can while in college, and earn the highest GPA that you can. Be a good person, and maintain a good reputation. Don't do anything that you would not want a background investigator to find out about. After you get your degree, consider applying with some larger departments such as the Wisconsin State Patrol or the Milwaukee Police Department. There are many things to consider when thinking about becoming a police officer. There are many things that you can do to increase your chances of becoming a police officer.
