How do i sell an invention?

I have an invention ive recently come up with that will have both demand in the market and shows good room for profit. But heres the thing, i have the idea so ive made a cheap prototype and my next step is to have this company make an actual plastic prototype of it so i can start the patent process. Now i need to know what the next step is. What should i do to try and sell it? Now keep in mind it is a cheap medical device and also a household product so how do i go about selling it to some store or getting a company or someone (investors) to back me on it so i can have money to mass produce it and market it? any advice or website links would be great, thanks.
