Depends Who's running this show? Who's running your life? You are willing to let your "feelings" deprive you of valuable time with your family. Oh, poor pitiful me. Get mad. Its your life. Don't let some goose egg ruin your fun. Or, you can say you have a headache. And you will. boatman 79 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Please verify your account to give a compliment. Divalicious said: 1 Why do you need to explain? I would just continue to politely decline without going into detail. That will prevent family members from passing on your comments and possibly embellishing them(like grade schoolers playing "telephone"). And in the future if you decide to get together will all your family again, there will be no hard feelings or eating crow necessary. 79 months ago

At least you're invited! I've been cut off from all my relatives(except my kids, thank God!) for who knows what the real reason is. All I can do, to stay sane, is remember the good times when I was younger and loved. And most importantly, move on. Life's short and I've learned to concentrate on the here and now and people who DO care about me. Communicate with your family members then move on.

It is better not to get into discussions about the issue because the question "why" will always come up.  Then there will be discussions about that which you really don?t want to get into. I suggest that you just decline invitations and make up reasons.  After a while, they will get the hint.  This happened to me where a brother of my did that for over 15 years for Christmas family get togethers, cemetery visits for our parents, etc.  Each time no reason was given and no suggestions were made for other dates to re-arrange the event.  Basically, if someone is interested then they will say I am sorry, I can?t make that date but how about.....   Since no suggestions were made, that told me they were not interested.  My sister-in-law did not want anything to do with my family and my brother went along with that for all those years.  Now my brother and I talk almost every day.  Strange stuff. I never really did understand what the riff was all about because there is no real reason to hold a grudge for over 10 years unless it was something almost criminal - there was none of that though.
