How do you like my solutions to help end illegal immigration?

Postby larry » Mon Nov 21, 2011 2:03 pm

Illegal immigrants only come here because they know there are still plenty of jobs Americans won't do, so why don't we get every US citizen that is on welfare, unemployment or just mooching off their parents, put them on buses and ship them out to all these farms that can't find local workers to replace the illegals that have left or have been deported. Campaigns to get Americans out to do these jobs aren't working, so how about we offer Americans a job, and a free ride? Do you think it'll work?

Immigrant farm workers' challenge: Take our jobs

SAN FRANCISCO – In a tongue-in-cheek call for immigration reform, farm workers are teaming up with comedian Stephen Colbert to challenge unemployed Americans: Come on, take our jobs.

Farm workers are tired of being blamed by politicians and anti-immigrant activists for taking work that should go to Americans and dragging down the economy, said Arturo Rodriguez, the president of the United Farm Workers of America.

So the group is encouraging the unemployed — and any Washington pundits or anti-immigrant activists who want to join them — to apply for the some of thousands of agricultural jobs being posted with state agencies as harvest season begins

All applicants need to do is fill out an online form under the banner "I want to be a farm worker" at http://www.takeourjobs.org, and experienced field hands will train them and connect them to farms.

According to the Labor Department, three out of four farm workers were born abroad, and more than half are illegal immigrants.

Proponents of tougher immigration laws have argued that farmers have become used to cheap labor and don't want to raise wages enough to draw in other workers.

Sticking someone on a bus against their will and shipping them off to the "farms" to work at hard labor....yeah, THAT sound like a good solution.....if you live in totalitarian state.

Won't happen dear! If McCain couldn't get them to do the work @ $50/hr, who says they'll get off of those easy benefits to do hard work?

WAKE UP AMERICA! Illegals are doing the jobs you don't want. Face the truth!

McCain offers $50 hr for lettuce pickers

The "farm worker" excuse of "who will pick our crops if we deport them" is getting old. Less than 1% of illegals pick crops. And I would gladly pay more for vegetables and fruit if it meant the USA would be illegal immigrant free.

In the 1940s they had the Bracero program which gave migrant farmworkers permission to work here during the harvest season. We need our program of temporary work visas to be expanded. And we need to eliminate the rule that says that certain adjustments of status cannot be done inside the US or after becoming out-of-status. Everything needs to be done on a case-by-case basis, including deportations, which should also be expanded.

The age old saying of: 'beggars can't be choosers fits here. Look, I understand how someone with a college degree and over 20 years experience in a high prestige job would feel doing farm work. But, if it pays the bills and keeps people in their homes, then this option should seriously be considered.

I'm very fortunate to have a job and one I actually like. But if push came to shove and I knew I'd become homeless, I'd do farm work any day! American perceptions, attitudes and the sense of entitlement of having a cushy job need to change. Work is work and someone has to do it.
