How does medical malpractice affect surgeons?

In my opinion it costs them a lot of money in malpractice insurance, drives up the cost of medical care in general, and makes quality care less likely for the average person.

Medical malpractice can result to serious injury. Most of the cases are complex and very costly. For instance, a surgeon in North Dakota who sued by his wife because of medical malpractice. Alonna Norberg has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against her husband Jon, an orthopedic surgeon, claiming that he administered the sedative Propofol to his wife, without monitoring, even though it created a dangerous combination with her other medications. DL-Online.com reports that the lawsuit seeks a jury trial and over $50,000 in damages.
