James Homless purchased guns and ammunition online.I've never done this and I don't know how it works.

Do the regular gun laws apply for online purchases ?

I don't know how on line sales could possibly follow local laws.

They deliver it to a certified dealer and they check your qualifications.

They would never allow a beer to be sold that way!

You go to a local gun dealer. HE is the one who buys the gun online. He does the background check.

That nut-job only bought ammo and accessories online. He bought the guns from local dealers something like 3 to 4 months ago. You can not get guns via mail unless it was made before something like 1899. If it was made after that then it can only be shipped to a business with a FFL (Federal Firearms License). Then you have to show your I.D. to the FFL dealer and fill out the appropriate forms in order to take possession of the firearm. Then the place with the FFL must keep that form on file for a very long time. So you can not get around the laws by buying a firearm online as you still have to go through the same hoops that you would have to if you bought it out of a gun store's inventory.

So yes, regular gun laws do apply for online purchases as the gun must be shipped to a gun dealer only.
