I am applying for a US tourist visa, will i need a background check for DS-160?

I am completing the DS-160 form online and want to know if I will need a background check. I have never had any convictions or problems with the law so will answer 'No' to all of the security questions, will I still need a background check?

it's done automatically at the time of the interview for everyone. will you need any additional checks after the interview? who knows?

It is nearly impossible to say in advance.

You will be told during the interview; however it is impossible to predict, even if you criminal record is sparkling clean.

PS: It is much easier to say what would to happen if you did answer 'yes' to any of those questions - you would be denied, with no background check required.
