The "adverse reports" from your creditors will appear on your credit report for 7 years.  However, in most states, the notation of bankruptcy remains for 10 years.

I think it will be on the personal credit history between 5 to 10 years. However,this will not hinder someone who filed for bankruptcy and was discharged to rebuilt his credit again. Anyone ,pls.correct me, if my response is wrong.

Jane,  A bankruptcy will appear on your credit record for 10 years.  You cannot file another bankruptcy for 7 years.  Hopefully, you will never have to file another one.   Best wishes to you. Sparky's Mom
