How long does the eviction process in N.C. take?

I've been told that you have three months between actually receiving the eviction notice and being locked out; someone else said they thought it could take up to a year. It probably all depends on the particulars of the case but I just wondered if anyone could give me a rough idea? My mother is disabled: because of that we can't get out quickly. Please note this is not due to non-payment of rent or bad behavior! It's a fabricated charge against my mother & the eviction date is several weeks before the court date, so she's not even being given the chance to prove her innocence. We're going through Legal Aid but that's (understandably) a very slow process - desperate for info in the meantime. Thank you!
