How long does the state(IN) have by law to charge someone with a criminal charge?

Postby charlot22 » Wed Dec 14, 2011 12:48 am

I have a friend who got in some trouble several years ago. and was sent to prison. he got out on parole, in the meantime they done a house check, and he had a few things he shouldnt have had. well once again he got parole violation. and done almost two years so he was released. the parole was in another state. on this house check, they arressted him again. violation in KY well in Indiana is where he has lived . Kentucky released him after 18 months and Indiana had never filed those charges from the house check. well now he has been out for quite awhile, doing great, matter of fact , he has a parole meeting coming up in a few days, to may be released. but on the 5th Indiana decided to charge him with those 2 years at least charges. since he wont make his parole meeting in KY it will be another parole violation. I just dont think they can do such a thing. the man is also 62 or so. could someone please give me any advice. lost friend

The statute of limitations on the criminal charges is 5 years so yes they can do it.
