I am a rising 3L law student. I have passed the MPRE. But I now must go through the Character & Fitness part of the application. In particular, the Character & Fitness committee will look at my credit history. I am 30. When I was 20-22 and just getting out of the US Army I made a few mistakes with credit. For example, I bought a Boflex and after losing a job I was unable to pay. This happened a few times and a number of my credit account went south. All together I either was deliquient or didn't pay about 2500. In the time since, I have tried to pay as much as possible. I gotten rid of a number of these debts all together and I plan on getting rid of all them soon. Nevertheless, I don't have great credit history. I'm just wondering how this will effect my application to the bar. I know that the bar looks down on bad credit history. But it seems that the amount of money was low and i never filed for bankruptcy. I'm not sure if that helps my case at all.
