How Would I Write A Letter To Potential Companies That I Would Like To Be Distributors Of A New Product From My Company?

Postby Cwentun » Fri Jun 06, 2014 1:06 pm

We have a new product that has a patent pending. I am looking for distributors to get this product to the end users. I have businesses targeted that I would like to send informational packets to, and will need to include a letter of introduction and need assistance in how to write this effectively.

Generally, the company lists the address on their web site, perhaps under "Corporate Relations".For example, for MAC, they redirect you to I don't think there's a template. You just write them a standard business letter: Dear sir/madam, I want to distribute your stuff, yadda yadda. Include the information about who you are, what kind of a distribution setup you have, an so forth.(That's a real business letter, not an email. Operations like this are done in the mail; email is just too flimsy and gets too much spam. They know that for a real letter you at least spent some money for a stamp and so you're not just sending them fan mail.)

Here's How:Use block style - do not indent paragraphs.Include address of the person you are writing to at the top of the letter, below your company address. After the address, double space and include dateDouble space(or as much as you need to put the body of the letter in the center) and include the salutation. Include Mr. for men or Ms for women, unless the recipient has a title such as Dr.State a reference reason for your letter(i.e. "With reference to our telephone conversation..."Give the reason for writing(i.e. "I am writing to you to confirm our order...")Make any request you may have(i.e. "I would be grateful if you could include a brochure..."If there is to be further contact, refer to this contact(i.e. "I look forward to meeting you at...")Close the letter with a thank you(i.e. "Thank you for your prompt help...")Finish the letter with a salutation(i.e. "Yours sincerely,")Include 4 spaces and type your full name and titlesign the letter between the salutation and the typed name and title http://esl.about.com/library/howto/htbusiness.htmI'd also check out the good ideas here:How to Write a Business PlanLooking for insight and practical advice on how to write a business plan?
