Try AZ or CA Florida has the warmest winter climate in the U.S., but it's not the only place to winter. I like San Diego, California, and Tuscon, Arizona as winter retreats. San Diego has a moderate climate all the time - rarely too cold or too hot, and it gets a lot of sunshine all year long. There are lots of things to do, but my favorite is just walking along the beach. You can walk for miles and miles, thanks to sensible property management. You won't see the ugly high rises and private beaches that have ruined Florida's coastline. The San Diego Zoo is one of the world's best, and the city has a rich tradition, dating back to the Spaniards who once administered this part of our country. Tuscon is unbearable in the summer, but in the winter months, the climate is quite agreeable. My wife and I honeymooned there. We enjoyed hiking in Sabino Canyon and cycling througout the city, which has an excellent network of bike routes. Tuscon has escaped the urban blight that has overtaken Phoenix, and there are a lot of things to do and see. I would consider either of these places. If you get in touch with the local tourism bureaus there, you should be able to get a ton of information on what to do and see.
