I feel like my customer betrayed me?

Postby darrick34 » Fri Apr 06, 2012 5:02 am

This customer was one of the most politest/nicest person I've met in my 11 years bakery business. She visited our store once a week. I haven't seen her for a while and all of sudden I've got a call from her lawyer. She is suing me for FOOD POISONING. No one else ever had problem eating our food. Okay I don't even mind about the money. I feel back stabbed/betrayed. It hurts a lot.

This is pretty bad, thats true. You should start checking your food sources though, immediately. This is a negligence tort case and if she has evidence for the court then she can sue you for damages both compensatory and punitive. Okay, yes she sort of back stabbed you, but the law is coming in on you now and you gotta look out for your business. Even if no one had trouble eating your food, this could be a rare case where something got into the food while it was being prepared. Seriously, for your safety, take a check of your business and make sure there are no sources that lead back to some bacteria infestation.

She might of been a loyal customer for many years...but, now you must put your feeling aside and think about your business. I hope you have contacted your lawyer for advice on this situation and taken the measures needed to avoid having the dept. of health come knocking on your door, shutting your business down. Hope the media does not get wind of this, etc...she might of gotten food poisoning or she might not of from your shop...it does not matter, the damage has been done.
I totally agree with other answers on the board.
