I have bought a flat almost a year back in one of the New Re developed society in Mumbai and I have taken possession of the flat in Jan 2011. Despite me being there physically, the current MC is not taking me on board as a member of the society (this is the case for all the new purchasers). However, the maintained bills are sent to us in time and they have been paid also. We have been inquiring about our membership for a while now and they have now asked us to pay a huge sum to consider the membership. This include, matching deposit (reserve fund), MSEDL Charges, membership charges to the tune of 30K, property tax prior to possession of my flat, MSEDL charges paid to the developer etc. While we have paid most of these (except the Municipal tax of earlier period)to the developer the society is claiming from us again.. As I understand as per the bye laws of the society we are not liable to pay this to the society.. Is there any legal binding by which we are liable to pay this to the soc.
