I'm 19 got caught shoplifting in pa?

I'm 19 got caught shoplifting in pa the police came but I was not arrested. Will it go on my record? The store said they wanted to press private persecution. What does this mean? I have a clear criminal record and never been arrested or done anything bad withthe law.
