I'm Let Go From The Pipe-Fitters Union, If I Launch A Small Company, May I Still Gather Unemplyment?

I'm Let Go From The Pipe-Fitters Union, If I Launch A Small Company, May I Still Gather Unemplyment?

Postby fiacre68 » Thu Dec 26, 2013 9:14 am

Iam collecting unemployment and I can not wait considerably longer for the marriage to get in touch with me back after again to perform. Iam looking for to launch a modest firm in the mean-time, but I do not want my unemployment to be terminated. Can there be a means to do this by registering being an LLC or Corporation? Assistance!

I Am Laid Off From A Pipe Fitters Union, If I Start Up A Small Business, Can I Still Collect Unemplyment?

When you answer that accurately and honestly, you will likely find that they will consider you to have found other employment, paid or otherwise. Sometimes, tho, they will have a thing on there about being self-employed, but that might be for a later claim because, as self-employed, you weren't paying into the fund.

Generally, the EDD will regularly ask you whether you've earned any money, paid or not. When you answer that accurately and honestly, you will likely find that they will consider you to have found other employment, paid or otherwise. Sometimes, tho, they will have a thing on there about being self-employed, but that might be for a later claim because, as self-employed, you weren't paying into the fund. danielpauldavis 51 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. employed".  If you start your own business, you'd have to answer this as a yes or commit fraud - regardless of whether is is an LLC.  I do not think being self employed disqualifies you from receiving unemployment, but you are required to report any income you receive and it will be deducted from your unemployment check.   Additionally, there is a question "Were you able to work full-time and available for full-time work" which you might not be able to answer with a truthful "Yes" if you're spending time running your own business.   The state you live in probably has a website you can access to get the specific information pertaining to laws in that state.

Another 13 weeks of unemployment extension was approved this week.  If you start your own business you might not be entitled to unemployment.  Ask at your state's Division of Labor web site.   Maybe if you go to the Union Hall and get temp work and make sure to report it on the weeks you earn.   Unemployment Offices are also helping people starting their own businesses.  Get trustworthy information. before you act.   Good luck.

you would have 'homework' and requirements, and would not officially be on UI any longer, it would be a special fund, and you would therefore not be eligible for anything like extensions of unemployment were they to be offered as a result of the bad economy.   So depending on what state you are in, you would need to find out more about how each state runs SEAP. They would 'grade' you at the introductory seminar as to how likely you were to find employment within the next 12 weeks and possibly suggest you would be eligible. You can also opt out at any time and get back on UI.   I know New York is one of the states: Q: What is the Self Employment Assistance Program(SEAP)? A: State and Federal legislation has established the Self Employment Assistance Program(SEAP) which provides certain eligible individuals the opportunity to start their own businesses while collecting unemployment insurance benefits. In order to be considered eligible for this program, you must first be identified by the State's profiling system as likely to exhaust benefits. If you are interested in participating in this program or wish to obtain additional information, contact your local Division of Employment Services office nearest you. You must comply with program requirements and receive written acceptance into the SEAP program before you can start or operate your own business while collecting benefits.
