I received a reckless driving ticket in virginia. I was 14 mph over the speed limit. Do I need a lawyer when?

It is always a good idea to get the advice of an attorney whenever you are charged with a crime.

If you plan to plead "guilty," it may not be important to have a lawyer unless the fine could be excessive.

If you plan to plead "not guilty," you should have your attorney with you.

If you are going to enter a plea of Not Guilty, yes, you should have one. How can you prove the officer was wrong in this case?

The penalty may be large and for that reason I would at least consult a lawyer. Often the introduction is free and then you will get some kind of idea what the costs are and what your legal risks are from the lawyer before you are committed to working with a lawyer.

I would suggest to call some and see if they can help or not.
