Here's my story. My mom passed away on December 31st, 2011. We have no idea why, as of yet. My mom was very disabled, but not "ill". I was told by the fireman that responded to my 911 call on that morning that he found insulin in my moms room. I was not aware she was on insulin, and i don't think she was. I'm not saying the fireman was lying, i'm just saying what i know, the result may be him lying. I picked up all prescriptions, spoke with her doctor before any were prescribed, it's in my job description, both of being a caregiver and a son. I found her on that morning at 9:21am. When she went to bed that night, she had covered up under the blankets. When i found her the blankets were on the floor and she appeared to have been tossed onto the bed, she was sprawled as if thrown.
A few days before her death, she told me that she was about to take a medication the pharmacist almost wouldn't fill for her. I asked her why and she said because the pharmacist (a friend of ours) said it has a severe reaction to her fentanyl patch she was currently on. She asked me if she should take it, so i said let me talk to the pharmacist. The pharmacist told me that there was an interaction, but the she needed to trust the doctors judgment. So she went ahead and took it. day's later (maybe a week) she was dead. The coroner did an autopsy, but found no reason she should have died. They are doing a blood toxicity test now, and the results should be back soon. What i want to know is, based on these results, may i have a case? If the results show her death was a result of a medical drug interaction, do i have a case? I don't know anything about this, and i'm simply trying to find a reason for my moms death.
